Issue: Dell Control Vault Vulnerability

Symptoms:
A vulnerability exists in Dell ControlVault firmware versions prior to 5.15.10.14 (for ControlVault3) and 6.2.26.36 (for ControlVault 3 Plus). This vulnerability, identified as CVE-2025-25050, is an out-of-bounds write issue within the cv_upgrade_sensor_firmware functionality. An attacker could potentially exploit this by sending a crafted ControlVault API call, leading to the vulnerability..

Resolution:
UIU has removed all previous versions of Dell Control Vault drivers from the database and replaced them with the recommended updated versions from Dell.

Clarification to Avoid Confusion: The Driver Dates and Version numbers, as well as the Firmware Version do no match the Package date and version numbers offered by Dell. This is due to the Drivers and firmware being published before Dell has published the package. Here is what to expect from the two new Dell Control Vault packages:

5.15.10.14 (Firmware Version: 5.15.007.0)
bcmnfcser.inf DriverVer = 09/23/2024,5.15.2.2
bcmnfcusb.inf DriverVer = 09/23/2024,5.15.2.2
cvusbdrv.inf DriverVer = 01/30/2025,5.15.9.9
ushwbfdrv.inf DriverVer = 10/28/2024,5.15.5.3

6.2.26.36 (Firmware Version: 6.2.024.0) bcmnfcser.inf DriverVer = 09/03/2024,6.2.9.3
bcmnfcusb.inf DriverVer = 01/23/2025,6.2.25.7
cvusbdrv.inf DriverVer = 01/31/2025,6.2.25.24
ushwbfdrv.inf DriverVer = 09/26/2024,6.2.15.4

REMINDER:

The full driver database exceeds 63Gb in size (63.2 Gb IMP). Please follow the guidelines below for optimal performance. This database release still covers Windows 7 through Windows 10 (64-bit only).

Note: As of the January 16, 2020, the full UIU driver database available for download from the web site will contain only drivers for supported 64-bit Windows operating systems, (Win10/11). Requests for Windows 7 and also 32-bit support should be directed to UIU Support.

Firmware Updates

UIU Support strongly recommends making sure that firmware (BIOS/UEFI) on target hardware has been updated to the most recent release from PC manufacturers. UIU Support has noticed that this can be critical in the successful deployment of newer hardware in particular.

USB Flash drives need to be formatted with the NTFS file system before the driver database will successfully transfer. Network share access is recommended.

Support Reminder:

The Big Bang Support Team would like to remind our customers to please clear out any drivers represented in the Custom folder(s) prior to testing with a new version of the UIU Driver Database as neglecting to do so may result in false negative installations.  Please contact a UIU Support representative with questions or concerns.
