5.9.1.0 - Core Functionality Update 5.15.0.0 Bookmark

September 16, 2026 - RELEASE
Includes UIUPrep version 5.15.0.0

This is an update of the UIUPREP application ONLY.

NEW FEATURE - BBCloud - Retrieve drivers directly from Big Bang's UIU Cloud Repository

Requirements:
This feature requires no local infrastructure and requires that UIUPREP to be locally available to the Target Machine. Internet access is required.

Details:

BBCloud
  • Optional
  • Retrieves drivers specific to a target machine from Big Bang’s UIU cloud repository using the most current, published UDB file.
  • Requires -licensekey command (e.g. UIUPREP.exe -run -licensekey “XXX” -bbcloud)
  • May include -driverudbname DB-YY-MM-DD.udb – for UDB other than the most current.

Additional Information

For more details on applications where UIUPREP is not local to the Target Machine, see the User Guide: Use the BBCloud Command Line option

NEW FEATURE - LiveOS - Service a live Windows Operating System

Requirements:
Access to local infrastructure or to the Internet is required.

Details:
In order to allow the UIU to operate in a live, online Windows operating system, an Administrator may either invoke UIUPREP at the target machine using CMD or PowerShell, or via a prepared batch file (locally or through an application deployment solution), or using a task sequence command element in an enterprise management solution.

e.g. >UIUPREP.exe -licensekey “XXX” -packagepath “\\server\UIURepository”

If combining with the -BBCLOUD Command Line option, to obtain the most recent drivers, using the most recent UDB release:

e.g. >UIUPREP.exe -run -licensekey “XXX” -bbcloud

NOTICE: Some drivers may require a reboot to be utilized in a live, Windows OS.

WARNING!
  • Testing on sample machines of the same make/model is highly recommended prior to execution in a Production environment. Failure to do so may result in unanticipated issues, potentially requiring the affected machine(s) to be re-imaged!
  • Restore Points are highly recommended – consult your enterprise management solution documentation.
  • The use of this command does not clear the local Windows Driver Store (additive only), allowing for a potential driver roll-back if necessary.

Additional Information

For more details, see the User Guide: Run the UIU in a live Windows Operating System

Reminder: NEW FEATURE: HTTP/s Support

Details:
UIUPrep now supports HTTP/s source locations, (including 1E Nomad discovered cache locations).

Requirements: IP protocol access to desired source locations; Internet or Intranet.

1E Nomad Application ONLY:
UIUPrep will automatically determine which mode to use (HTTP, HTTPS, or SMB) based on the 1E Nomad settings discovered in the WinPE registry. Please contact UIU Support for additional detail specific to this environment.

GENERAL FEATURES:

If the HTTP/s features are enabled you MUST have specified a database version using the requisite advanced switch. That switch is -driverudbname %filename%.udb. for example: “-driverudbname DB-24-09-10.udb” for the September 10th, 2024 release. This version must be available in any repository that a machine might chose from %UIURepository%\repository\*.udb

The UIU Log location remains the same, however the logging format has changed. UIUPrep’s processes will now output in the standard CMTrace readable format, viewing with Notepad or other text editor is no longer recommended. Because of this, when viewing in CMTrace, there may now be additional information in the information section located at the bottom of the CMTrace window for any given logged item/line that is selected.

Support has been included for WinPE version 10.1.26100.1 in order to support modern WADK versions.

32bit support has been deprecated. The last UIUPrep version to support 32bit machines is 5.12.1.0. Any customer still deploying to 32bit machines is encouraged to reach out to UIU Support for details.
